The BESTS (Belin-Blank Exceptional Student Talent Search) Talent Search is
offered in February for students in grades four through six in selected
Alberta locations. According to the organizers, it is intended for students
who score in the top 5% in language arts or mathematics on either the grade
three Alberta Provincial examinations or another standardized test.
The goal of the talent search is to use tests designed for eighth-graders
to identify students in younger grades who need further educational
challenge to fully realize their talent. The results of an above-level test
such as this can help determine what academically talented students are
ready to learn.
